Eagles harvest first lettuce crop of the season

Our Eagles recently harvested the first lettuce crop of the season from our hydroponic towers! These fresh, homegrown greens will be served in the cafeteria for students to enjoy.

This exciting milestone is part of the Cultivate Maize program—an initiative designed to teach students about sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and environmental responsibility. Through this hands-on learning experience, students explore how food is grown, harvested, and prepared, all while developing important STEAM and life skills.

Key features of the Cultivate Maize program include:

  • Hydroponic growing systems that allow students to observe and manage plants without soil.
  • STEAM integration, connecting science, technology, and environmental studies through real-world applications.
  • Farm-to-table experiences that let students taste the results of their work in the school cafeteria.
  • Nutrition and wellness education to encourage healthy eating habits and an appreciation for fresh, local produce.

By participating in Cultivate Maize, students are not only growing plants—they’re cultivating curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of how their food reaches the table. 🌱💚
