Congratulations to our Battle of the Books winners

Congratulations to our Battle of the Books winners

This year, Maize Intermediate School had 50 students and 11 teams competed in our school's competition. Teams are made of 5th and 6th graders who all compete against each other. The Battle of the Books competition requires teams to answer detailed questions about 10 different novels. We hosted monthly team meetings for students to have the chance to get together, talk about their books, and update each other on their progress. Students started working on reading the required books back in September giving them 6 months to read and prepare for the competition.

Our winning battle of the books team competed in the district competition against Maize South Intermediate at the Educational Support Center. They also got to have a celebratory lunch at Chick-fil-A before the competition!

We are so proud of all of our students who competed this year. Thank you to all of the students and families who make Battle of the Books a success each year! Our goal with Battle of the Books is to make reading more fun, which is a skill that will benefit our students for a lifetime.
